Qualifications
- At least 10 years of management experience of an academic degree program in communication;
- Holder of a doctorate in a communication from a leading academic institution;
- Recognized as (emergent) leader in communication education;
- Preferably with extensive linkages with relevant international and national professional communication organizations;
- With proven track record in developing innovative and pioneering communication programs and projects;
- Experience in interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary programs and graduate school teaching are value added; and
- Compliance with other minimum requirements set by CHED CMO 15, series 2019 and appropriate policies and guidelines.
Terms of Reference
In coordination with the president and the vice president for academics, the dean is expected to perform the following tasks:
- Enhance current graduate programs, i.e., MA in Communication and MA in Journalism and the new MS in Communication Technology program consistent with national, regional, and global standards;
- Examine and identify areas of synergy in the operations of AIJC Graduate School and NOW Corporation/NOW Telecommunications to enable AIJC Graduate School to offer cutting edge courses;
- Study the feasibility of offering other typologies of masters and doctoral programs (academic and professional degrees) as listed in CHED Memorandum Order 15, series of 2019;
- Pursue collaboration with other higher education institutions (e.g., Saint Louis University-Baguio and Holy Angel University) in offering collaborative graduate program;
- Lead in establishing linkages with leading academic institutions at the national, regional and global settings;
- Lead in marketing existing and envisioned AIJC graduate programs;
- Initiate academic research studies distinct from RPA-commissioned studies;
- Synergize with Research, Policy and Advocacy Unit to maximize research opportunities for faculty and students and to integrate research outputs into the curriculum; and
- Perform functions of the dean as defined in appropriate CHED Policies, Standards, and Guidelines.
